A team of architects and urban experts from Romania, Italy, The Netherlands, Hungary and Greece worked on the strategic agenda for the city-region of Kavala during Kavala planning week from 29 September to 3 October. The city Kavala has a population of 56.000 inhabitants and is situated in the northern part of Greece. It’s at a 16 kilometer distance from the city Filippi, known for its ancient theatre and archeological site.
Outcomes
The planning week resulted in a strategic poster plan and project pipeline and steps towards setting the agenda have been further defined. The axes for development focus on tourism, regeneration of important urban areas, encouraging entrepreneurship and waterfront development. The outcomes of the intensive week were positively received by the mayor of Kavala and the stakeholders. It is the ambition of the city to set up an urban center and install an urban taskforce by the beginning of 2015.
